Occurs Annually (Check Website for Current Details)

The GASB annually awards $5,000 to support research relevant to state and local government accounting and financial reporting. Requests for research proposals for the Gil Crain Memorial Research Grant are announced at GASB website, www.gasb.org. Working with the GASB on research is an opportunity for academics and government research organizations that is far more rewarding than just the monetary stipend.

Applicants may propose research on any topic related to the GASB’s existing standards and standards-setting activities. Topics specifically identified by the GASB include tax abatements, government mergers, infrastructure, and popular reporting.

The application deadline is usually in May with awards in June.
