We were married on the Memphis Queen III on Saturday night, August 25,
2001. Captain James Gilmer performed the ceremony in the dining salon on the second deck after cruising to the the middle
of the Mississippi River.
Tyna wore a white satin gown with an open back. She was attended by her daughters, Brittany
and Jennifer, who brought her an heirloom diamond necklace in a gold-leafed glass egg as she dressed for the ceremony.
The
vows were simple, except for the groom's addition of "and adore" to the usual "love, honor, and cherish."
After dinner,
we went to the third deck to look at the Memphis skyline and the lights on the bridge spanning the Mississippi. The sky was
clear and the quarter moon reflected off the river as we returned.
The photo to the right and those of the ceremony
were taken by Michael Horton of Rogers, Arkansas. The others were taken either by us or fellow passengers.
We would
like to express our gratitude to the many well wishers who sent messages to us over the past few weeks as we prepared to begin
our new life together.
